The Lash Diaries · Common questions

How often should I get a lash fill?

About every two weeks. Desiree's menu recommends a refresh two weeks after your last visit, and a longer fill appointment if it has been two to three weeks since your last visit or you've had more shedding than usual. Much past three weeks, call or text Central Oasis before booking so Desiree can suggest the right appointment.

How often should I get a lash fill?

About every two weeks. That's the advice in our aftercare guide, and it's how Desiree built her menu: each fill appointment says, in her own words, which moment it's for.

For a fill at about two weeks:

The recommended appointment time for a 2 week refresh on your lashes. Book this appointment to get your lashes looking more full back to your beautiful self! This appointment can also be booked without having prior lashes for a subtle enhancement of your natural lashes.
From Desiree’s menu: 60 Minute Classic Lashes

For two to three weeks, or a stretch with extra shedding:

This appointment is recommended if it has been 2-3 weeks since your last lash appointment, or if you have had more shedding than usual. Hybrid lashes use a mix of 1 to 1 and multiple to 1 volume extensions. This appointment can be booked without having lash extensions currently on.
From Desiree’s menu: 90 Minute Hybrid Lashes

So the calendar picks the appointment. At about two weeks, book the refresh, which takes 60 minutes. At two to three weeks, or after more shedding than usual, book the longer fill, which takes 90 minutes and comes in every style: classic, hybrid, volume and mega volume.

Why do extensions need regular fills?

Because your natural lashes keep growing and shedding underneath the set. Natural lashes grow about 0.12–0.14 mm a day, and the growth phase lasts 4 to 10 weeks (Aumond and Bitton, 2018). Each extension moves outward with its lash as it grows.

Your lashes also run on staggered cycles. A full cycle takes about 4 to 11 months (Aumond and Bitton, 2018), and because every lash is at a different point in it, people typically lose and replace 1 to 4 lashes a day (Sullivan et al., 2023). Every week some lashes finish their cycle and shed, taking their extensions with them, while new lashes grow in.

Two weeks after an appointment, your set is a mix of three things:

  • Extensions that have grown out with their lashes.
  • Gaps where natural lashes shed and took their extensions along.
  • New lashes that grew in after your visit, with nothing on them yet.

A fill tops up the set: Desiree adds extensions where your lashes need them, so it looks full and even again.

However full a set starts, the lashes under it keep growing and shedding; the fill is what keeps it looking like this.
  1. Day 0Your full set or fill
  2. About 2 weeksA 60-minute refresh
  3. 2 to 3 weeks, or more sheddingA 90-minute appointment
  4. Much longer, or starting overAsk Desiree; a full set may fit better

A growing lash adds about 1.7 to 2 mm in two weeks (0.12 to 0.14 mm a day), carrying its extension away from the lash line.

How a set changes between visits: a refresh at about two weeks, and a longer fill at two to three weeks or after extra shedding.

Mega volume wearers have matching appointments: Mega Volume Lash Fill (30 min) for the short fill while a set is still on, under two weeks, Mega Volume Lash Fill (60 min) for the two-week refresh and Mega Volume Lash Fill (90 min) for two to three weeks. Her menu doesn't say whether the 30‑minute mega volume fill needs extensions already on, so if your lashes are bare, call or text before you book.

Classic Lash Fill (30 min) and Hybrid Lash Fill (30 min) need extensions already on. The 30‑minute volume fill and every refresh and longer fill can also be booked without a set already on, for a lighter set on your natural lashes.

Central Oasis fills sets done at other studios. Book the fill that fits the time since your last appointment, whoever did your set, using the rows above.

What if it's been more than three weeks?

By then more of the set has shed and more has grown out, so there's more to rebuild.

If you're past three weeks or have very little left, call or text Desiree at (971) 205‑2402 before booking so she can plan the right appointment (contact). Come with your current extensions on, and don't pull or pick at them at home; that can take natural lashes with them.

If there's redness, swelling, pain, or any change in vision, contact Desiree and see a doctor rather than waiting for your fill.

What to check before you book

When your two-week reminder pops up, take a quick look in the mirror:

  • How long it's been since your last visit.
  • Where the set looks lighter: inner corners, outer corners, one eye or both.
  • Whether you've had more shedding than usual.
  • Whether you want the same look or a change: fuller, softer or a different style.

After booking, you can start your pre-visit to send close-ups ahead for Desiree (how it works).

Between fills, brush each morning and wash your lash line daily with an oil-free cleanser (full aftercare). A Lash Bath helps too; her menu says it will "boost your retention." Losing a lot in the first week is a different question: see why extensions fall out after one week.

Quick answers

Can I wait three weeks for a lash fill?
Yes. Desiree's longer fill appointment is recommended if it has been two to three weeks since your last lash appointment or you've had more shedding than usual. Book that one rather than the two-week refresh, so there's time to rebuild the set. Much past three weeks, call or text Desiree before booking.
Do I really need a lash fill every two weeks?
Two weeks is the timing Desiree recommends for a refresh. By then some natural lashes have shed and taken their extensions with them, others have grown out, and new lashes have come in bare. A fill at that point brings the set back to full and even in a shorter appointment.
How long does a lash fill take at Central Oasis?
A two-week refresh such as Classic Lash Fill (60 min) takes 60 minutes. The fill for two to three weeks or extra shedding, such as Hybrid Lash Fill (90 min), takes 90 minutes. A short fill such as Classic Lash Fill (30 min) takes 30 minutes, and the 30‑minute classic and hybrid fills need extensions already on.
Should I book a lash fill or a new full set?
If your set still looks mostly full, book a fill; Central Oasis fills sets done at other studios too. If it's been more than three weeks or very little is left, call or text Desiree before booking so she can suggest the right appointment. The refresh and longer fill appointments can also be booked without a set already on.
