The style

What does a volume set look like, and who is it for?

The look

A fan of several fine extensions on each natural lash, for a fuller, fluffier line. Desiree describes the volume set as highly customizable, from a soft fluff to a glamorous look.

Who it suits

Anyone who wants a fuller line than their own lashes can give one at a time, including fine or sparse natural lashes. Volume does not have to look dense: ask for an airy finish and a moderate length, since length is its own choice. The research on length measured protection, not looks: in airflow studies on a model eye, lashes about one-third of the eye's width protected the eye best, so longer isn't automatically better.

How it wears

Volume often looks fresh for longer between fills, because each lash carries several fibers and one missing fan blends in. That is appearance, not grip: no study in our library shows volume bonds lasting longer than classic, and in a lab test heat wore lash adhesive down faster.

How its fills work

Desiree's menu keeps it full with a 60‑minute volume fill ($85) about two weeks after your visit, 90 minutes ($130) at two to three weeks or after more shedding than usual and a 30‑minute volume fill ($50). Not ready for a full set? The 60‑ and 90‑minute volume appointments can be booked without a set already on, for a lighter set on your natural lashes.

  • What the airflow research measured:

The optimal mammalian lash length was established as one-third of the width of the eye.

  • Why heat shortens how long any set lasts:

Temperature exhibits a strong negative impact on eyelash extension durability, accelerating adhesive degradation as temperature increases from 15 °C to 35 °C.

Prep and aftercare

How do I prepare for a full set of volume lash extensions?

  • Come with clean lashes: no mascara, eyeliner or eye makeup.
  • Skip oil-based cleansers, eye creams and makeup removers that day. Oil weakens lash adhesive, and a clean lash line helps your set last.
  • Don't curl your lashes beforehand; straight, natural lashes are easier to separate and the set sits more evenly.
  • If your eyes get sensitive or you've reacted to lash glue before, call or text Desiree and ask about a patch test 24 to 48 hours ahead.
  • If you wear contact lenses, bring your case; most people are more comfortable without them.
  • You'll lie back with your eyes closed for about 180 minutes, so wear something comfortable, and skip a big coffee right before if caffeine makes you jittery.
  • Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in.

What aftercare does a full set of volume lash extensions need?

  • Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours so the adhesive can fully set.
  • Use oil-free cleansers and makeup removers around your eyes; oil breaks down adhesive.
  • Brush your lashes gently each morning with a clean spoolie.
  • Sleep on your back or side when you can, so the set stays even.
  • Book your next fill for about two weeks out to keep your set full.
