The Lash Diaries · Portland lash notes

What is a lash bath—and what does it actually do?

At Central Oasis, a lash bath is an in-studio cleansing service that takes 15 minutes and costs $15. Desiree's menu says it helps lashes get squeaky clean and can boost retention. That describes the service intention, not a controlled promise of extra wear time. It is not medical treatment, and it adds to—not replaces—daily gentle washing at home.

What does Central Oasis mean by a lash bath?

The governed answer comes from Desiree's live menu:

Help those lashes get squeaky clean and boost your retention with this service.
From Desiree’s menu: Lash Bath

The current appointment is 15 minutes and $15. The menu confirms the purpose—an in-studio clean—and its intended place in retention care. It does not publish a product list or step-by-step protocol, so this article does not invent one. Ask Desiree if you need to know exactly what she will use on your set.

In-studio clean. This is the cosmetic service named on Desiree's live menu.

No added-days promise. The screened corpus does not quantify how much longer a set will wear.

Not clinical care. Symptoms need medical guidance, not a cleansing appointment as a test.

The appointment can clean the lash line. It cannot promise a number of extra days, replace daily care or act as clinical treatment.

Does research prove a lash bath makes extensions last longer?

Not from the screened public corpus used for The Lash Diaries. It contains no controlled client study comparing Central Oasis-style lash-bath appointments with otherwise matched extension retention. The phrase boost your retention is Desiree's menu language; it is not a promise of a measured number of added days.

The nearest usable evidence describes hygiene behavior, not this service. A 2025 cross-sectional survey in Saudi Arabia reported that most participants washed their faces and eyelashes, while fewer used dedicated eyelid-cleaning solutions or had the eyelid-health knowledge the study measured (Alkalash et al., 2025). It did not enroll lash-bath clients, compare extension sets or measure retention.

A separate single-salon study in Indonesia found that higher sanitation and hygiene knowledge was associated with better decision-making about eyelash-extension services (Saphira et al., 2023). That was a correlational study, not a lash-bath intervention. Its narrow transfer is that clear hygiene information can support a service decision; it does not prove what this appointment changes.

Does a lash bath replace washing extensions at home?

No. Desiree's home routine is to keep a new set dry for the first 24 hours, then wash the lash line daily with an oil-free cleanser, rinse gently and pat instead of rubbing. The studio appointment is an additional clean when it fits the situation; it is not a substitute for the routine she can compare with the set over time.

If mascara or another product is involved, save the label and removal method. Mascara on extensions separates the appearance, formula and removal questions; oil-based products and retention explains why a product category alone does not prove a cause.

Quick answers

How much is a lash bath at Central Oasis?
The live menu lists Lash Bath at $15 for 15 minutes. It is an in-studio cleansing service. Price, duration and booking availability come from the catalog rather than being typed into this article, so the answer updates with Desiree's current menu.
Does a lash bath make extensions last longer?
Desiree's menu says the service can boost retention. The cited hygiene survey described washing habits but did not test lash baths or measure extension wear time (Alkalash et al., 2025). Treat the appointment as an in-studio clean within her care routine, not a promise of a specific number of added days.
Should I get a lash bath before a fill?
Not automatically. If there is visible makeup or buildup, ask Desiree whether the separate lash-bath appointment fits and how it should be timed. A lighter set or gap may need photos and a booking review instead; cleansing alone cannot identify why the appearance changed.
Can a lash bath treat an eye condition?
No. Central Oasis offers it as a cosmetic cleansing service, not medical treatment. Redness, swelling, pain, discharge, marked irritation or any vision change needs medical guidance. Contact Desiree about the service record, but do not use a lash bath to test or treat symptoms.
