The Lash Diaries · Common questions

Can I get a foreign lash fill in Portland?

Yes. Central Oasis fills sets done at other studios. “Foreign fill” simply means another artist applied the set you are wearing. Book by the time since that appointment: about two weeks calls for a 60‑minute refresh; two to three weeks or extra shedding calls for 90 minutes. Past three weeks, with very little left or if you want a major change, contact Desiree before booking.

An existing set is the starting point for a foreign fill—not a verdict on the artist who applied it.

Does Central Oasis fill a foreign lash set?

Yes. Desiree fills sets applied by other lash artists. You do not need to remove a comfortable set just because you are changing studios, and the phrase foreign fill does not mean the set is bad. It tells the new artist that she is beginning with work, products and timing she did not personally record.

The useful booking question is not who applied it. It is how long ago the appointment was, what is still attached, whether the lash line is comfortable and whether you want to keep the same style or change it.

The same timing applies whether the previous set came from Central Oasis or elsewhere. See the full fill-timing guide for the current classic, hybrid, volume and mega-volume options.

What does Desiree need to know before a foreign fill?

When? Start with the date of the last full set or fill.

What remains? Describe current coverage and where it looks lighter.

How does it feel? Comfort belongs in the decision before style or timing.

What next? Keep the look, soften it, make it fuller or discuss a change.

A useful foreign-fill brief has four layers: when the set was applied, what remains, how the lash line feels and what you want next.
  • Date: when the full set or last fill was applied.
  • Starting style: classic, hybrid, volume or mega volume, if you know it. A photo or booking receipt is helpful; guessing is not required.
  • What remains: whether the set still feels mostly full, looks lighter in one zone or has very little left.
  • Comfort: any pulling, tenderness, redness, swelling, burning, discharge, light sensitivity or vision change.
  • Next goal: keep the same look, soften it, make it fuller or discuss a different style.

Hi Desiree, my last appointment was on [date] at a different salon. I was told the set was [style / not sure]. I have [rough description] left and the lash line feels [comfortable / describe concern]. I want [same look / softer / fuller / a change]. Which appointment should I book?

Do not pull, trim or test the set before she sees it. If removal is the better next step, professional Lash Extension Removal is designed for that job; home removal can damage the natural lashes beneath the set.

What does lash research add to a foreign-fill decision?

Research explains why an existing set is a moving starting point. The complete natural-eyelash life cycle ranges from 4 to 11 months (Aumond and Bitton, 2018), and people typically lose and replace 1 to 4 eyelashes a day (Sullivan et al., 2023). Because individual lashes are at different stages, a set changes between appointments even when no single event explains the pattern.

Those findings do not establish a special scientific rule for foreign fills. They explain why appointment date and what remains both matter. They cannot tell Desiree which adhesive was used, how each extension was attached, why a particular gap appeared or whether the previous work was good or bad.

Can a lash photo tell what the other artist used?

No. A clear close-up can describe visible coverage, side-to-side differences, obvious grown-out direction and whether a useful view is missing. It cannot identify the adhesive formula, certify isolation, reconstruct the original map, determine application date or score another artist's technique.

That boundary is useful to the Central Oasis camera path. It can standardize a few views and carry the visible pattern into the consultation. The appointment date and comfort history come from you. Desiree combines both layers and confirms what to book; the AI should abstain from facts the pixels do not contain.

How should I book and prepare for a foreign fill?

  1. Count from your last lash appointment, not from the day you first noticed a gap.
  2. Choose the 60‑minute refresh at about two weeks or the 90‑minute fill at two to three weeks or after extra shedding.
  3. Contact Desiree first if you are past three weeks, very little remains, the lash line is uncomfortable or you want a major style change.
  4. Arrive with the set clean and free of eye makeup. Bring a reference photo only if it helps explain what you want next.

For example, Classic Lash Fill (60 min) is the two-week classic refresh, while Hybrid Lash Fill (90 min) gives a hybrid set more time at two to three weeks or after extra shedding. Use the style you currently wear when you know it; if you do not, send a photo and ask rather than choosing by guesswork.

If the set has changed much sooner than expected, the four-clue retention guide helps you record what happened without assigning a cause. If you are simply changing studios, book the time that fits and tell Desiree it is a foreign fill in the note.

Quick answers

What is a foreign lash fill?
A foreign fill is a fill performed on a lash-extension set applied by another artist or studio. The word identifies the starting record, not the quality of the set. Desiree needs the last appointment date, what remains, how the lash line feels and whether you want the same look or a change.
Will Central Oasis fill lashes from another salon?
Yes. Central Oasis fills sets done at other studios. At about two weeks, book the matching 60‑minute refresh. At two to three weeks or after extra shedding, book the matching 90‑minute fill. If it has been longer, little remains or you want a major change, contact Desiree first.
Do I need to remove another artist's lashes before a fill?
Not automatically. Keep a comfortable set on and let Desiree assess the current starting point. Do not pull or dissolve extensions at home. If very little remains, the lash line is uncomfortable or the existing set cannot support the result you want, she may recommend removal or a new set instead.
Can I send a photo before booking a foreign fill?
Yes. A clear photo can show visible coverage and help Desiree size the conversation, especially if you do not know the style name. It cannot reveal the old adhesive, reconstruct the original map or judge the previous artist. Include the appointment date, comfort history and the result you want next.
