Lash tint, lash lift, or lift and tint: which do I need?

Book by the change you want. A lash lift curls your natural lashes; Desiree's menu says it lasts six to eight weeks. A tint darkens them so light lashes show without mascara; plan the next one about three to four weeks later. Lash Lift and Tint does both: 60 minutes, $75. Reacted to tint or hair dye? Ask Desiree about a patch test 24 to 48 hours ahead; call or text first.

Lash tint, lash lift, or both: which do I need?

They do two different jobs. A lift changes the shape of your natural lashes, curling them up from the root so they frame the eye without a curler. A tint changes their color, so fair or light lashes show against your lid. Neither adds lashes; both work with the ones you have.

Natural lashes darkened from root to tip, top and lower lashes, on an open grey-green eye; from a lash lift and tint
A lift and tint from Desiree's chair: the tint is the darker colour from root to tip, on the lower lashes too; the curl is the lift.

Lash lift: shape. Curls your own lashes up from the root. Nothing is added.

Lash tint: color. Darkens light lashes so they show without mascara.

Lift and tint: both. Shape and color together, in one visit.

A lift changes the shape of your own lashes, a tint changes their color, and a lift and tint does both. None of them adds lashes.

Desiree's menu calls a lash tint semi-permanent. A lash tint fades as lashes grow and shed; plan the next one about three to four weeks later. That interval comes from a clinical study of white lashes (Ju et al., 2024), not salon tints.

Booking both? Compare Lash Lift and Tint at $75 for 60 minutes with a Lash Lift at $60 plus a Lash Tint at $25 booked on their own. Prices and times come from Desiree's live menu, and you pay at your visit; nothing is charged online. Doing your brows too? What does each service do, in Desiree's words?

The lift:

Create a lift and curl to your natural lashes. Lasts 6–8 weeks.
From Desiree’s menu: Lash Lift

The tint:

Semi-Permanent tinting of the eyelashes
From Desiree’s menu: Lash Tint

Both together:

Create a lift or curl to your natural lashes! includes a tint in the color of your choice.
From Desiree’s menu: Lash Lift and Tint

People notice what a lift does. In a survey of women in their 20s to 50s, respondents said a lash lift changed their eye image and gave them clearer-looking eyes (Lee and Do, 2021).

Do I need a patch test before a lash tint?

If you've reacted to lash or brow tint before, yes: tell Desiree and ask about a patch test 24 to 48 hours ahead; call or text before you book. If you've ever reacted to hair dye, tell her too, because tints and hair dyes can share the same ingredient.

Reactions to lash dye are in the medical record (Teixeira et al., 2006). That's not a reason to fear a tint. It's why we ask about past reactions before one, and why, if you've reacted before, a patch test 24 to 48 hours ahead is the safe route.

If you notice redness, swelling, pain or any change in vision after a tint or lift, contact Desiree and see a doctor.

How do I prepare for a lift or tint, and care for it after?

Before your appointment:

  • Come with clean lashes: no mascara, eyeliner or eye makeup.
  • Skip oily products around your eyes that day so the lift and tint take evenly.
  • Don't curl your lashes that day.
  • If you wear contact lenses, bring your case; most people are more comfortable without them.

After your appointment:

  • Keep your lashes dry, and skip steam, saunas and mascara for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Skip the lash curler; the lift does the work.
  • A lift usually lasts six to eight weeks, so plan your next one around then.
  • A lash tint fades as lashes grow and shed; plan the next one about three to four weeks later.

Quick answers

Can I wear mascara after a lash tint?
Give it 24 to 48 hours first. Our aftercare for a lift or tint is to keep your lashes dry and skip steam, saunas and mascara for that time. After that it's your call; a tint is there so light lashes show without it. Come to the appointment itself with clean lashes and no eye makeup.
How long do a lash lift and a lash tint last?
A lift lasts six to eight weeks, in Desiree's words. A lash tint fades as lashes grow and shed; plan the next one about three to four weeks later. That interval comes from a clinical study of white lashes (Ju et al., 2024), not salon tints. To help both last, keep lashes dry and skip steam, saunas and mascara for 24 to 48 hours.
Should I get a lift or a tint if my lashes are dark but straight?
A lift. Dark lashes already show; what they need is direction, and a lift curls them up from the root so they frame your eye without a curler. If they're straight and light, book Lash Lift and Tint for $75 to change shape and color in one visit.
Is a lash tint safe if I've reacted to hair dye?
Tell Desiree before you book. Tints and hair dyes can share the same ingredient, so a past hair-dye reaction matters here. Ask her about a patch test 24 to 48 hours ahead; call or text before you book. If your eyes are red or sore on the day, tell her before she starts.
